We have come to the end of our summer vacation (almost a month ago, now!) and we are slowly approaching Fall. As I write this, I am watching lightening outside of my window near the mountains to the south of us. I really wish we would get soaked. As you see in the pictures below, the dam is super low. The water was turned off for the farmers and for our lawns in August, and things have been drying up. The ground is certainly parched and we need the rain. Here are a few of the end of summer events that took place in our neck of the woods.

| We went to the County Fair, and saw porcine behinds. I love the look on LO's face. |

| We have started getting eggs. It is about time they earn their keep! (The hens, not the kids...) |

| SHO tried really hard to like every minute of swimming lessons, but as you can see by the strained smile, he got a little tired of them. |

| Standing on the thirsty earth. When people pray for rain here, it is more than just a trite phrase-- it is a heartfelt plea. Their livelihood depends on it. |

| The water used to be up to the tree line. This picture doesn't do justice to how deep this really is. |

| We went on a nice little hike up the canyon. And of course, no family outing would be complete without SHO falling and banging his forehead on a rock or something hard. He is also a dirt magnet, but I still think he has a kissable face!!! |

| The others get to sleep in a little more. They catch the bus at 8:00. |

| Part of our harvest. We tried several potato varieties and they grew really well this year. Looks like we will be living off of potatoes, onions, and carrots (not pictured). |

| No-- really!! We found the potato already like this-- the two little spuds attached on top. We laughed when we dug it out of the ground. SHO immediately thought it looked like Fly Guy!! |

Looks like fun! Love your kids. HOpefully you got some rain with these last storms. We got some and cooler weather, and it has been heaven!
Your onions are huge! Mine do not grow that well. Maybe we need less water or something! LL is such a good sport to catch a bus at 630. It is dark out then! And you can take some of our flash flooding rains.

Is SHO wearing some old sister sneakers? I love it. I wish I could harvest like you! P.S. you need to send your kids on a plane to me and you too.P.P.S. we have friends who are crazy and make the drive from Texas to Utah in one 24 hour drive-straight through. Just in case you want to do that too.
